Cilla Black fancies John!! - 25.09.05
Well, she certainly seemed as if she did anyway!! Let me explain. John was on The Paul O Grady Show last Thursday with Cilla Black. Anyone who has ever seen the show will know that it's usually quite a mad, anything goes affair and it was no different on this occasion! Paul mentioned that John is in the running to be the next James Bond, a fact that seemed to have passed John by judging from his reaction!!
Paul asked John why he thinks Robbie Ross is so popular and John's reply was that he is a 'lovable rogue', at which point one lady in the audience got rather excited!
John was definitely finding the whole affair rather nerve racking but none the less came across extremely well.
The Paul O'Grady Show - 09.09.05
A date for your diary - get those video recorders ready!! John is going to be on The Paul O' Grady Show on ITV1 at 17.00 on the 22nd September. In Camera Gets Top Viewing Figures - 31.01.05
Last weeks episode of Taggart entitled 'In Camera' gained the highest viewing figures for this series of Taggart. 6 million people tuned in to see Robbie Ross fall in love. This was an extremely well acted and well written episode. I have been receiving feedback from you all regarding John's part in this episode. To see what others have said CLICK HERE
John Wears A Kilt!! - 19.01.05
Well he does according to last weeks 'Woman's Own' Magazine which was kindly sent to me by John fan Julie from Southampton. He went on to say that he only keeps money in his sporran!!
Due to a major episode for Robbie Ross next week (In Camera - 27th Jan ITV1 9pm) John is featuring in most of next weeks TV Guides. The TV Times in particular is worthy of a look. Basically it seems that Robbie falls in love with someone he shouldn't (what's new!) and whilst on a romantic weekend away they find a body. Robbie in his infinite wisdom reports it anonymously to protect his new lady friend and their relationship. Un luckily for him the investigation is taken on by Maryhill CID!
It seems like it might be one that will have Robbie fans on the edge of their seats!!
The Daily Record - 18.01.05
An article called 'On The Phone With John Michie' featured in today's Daily Record. In it John talks about Taggart and his family back in London. He also mentions the website as follows:
"There are many anecdotes about Colin McCredie, Alex Norton and Blythe Duff being clocked in far flung corners of the globe thanks to its large international following. But now you've been granted your own John Michie website... 'I know. There are people writing to it from all over the world - Russia, Bulgaria, Finland and so on. It's bizarre. But it's amazing how many young girls seem to be fans of my character....'
GMTV - 12.01.05
John was on GMTV this morning with Alex Norton. They were promoting the new Taggarts and Lorraine Kelly was rather taken with the thought of Robbie naked in Wages Of Sin (13th Jan, 9pm - ITV 1)!!
John was wearing a white t shirt, black jacket, blue jeans and trainers. He looked very relaxed and happy. Both John and Alex made their way back up to Glasgow today to continue filming. I hope the weather is a little better for them.
Anyone who missed GMTV can contact email@example.com. They offer a service whereby you can purchase the interview(s) on VHS for a fee.
The Sun Newspaper - 08.01.2005
As promised there is a rather nice picture/article featuring John in today's 'Sun' and he's naked!! If you see this in time you must buy a copy - if you missed it let me know as I have some spare copies. Obviously I don't have permission to post the photo but here's what the article says:
"Foul Play - An Undercover Operation Leaves Taggart's DI Ross Feeling Like A Total Turkey"
'Taggart's Robbie Ross gets trussed up like a plucked turkey when an undercover operation goes pear-shaped in the Scottish police drama. TV Secrets' exclusive picture of DI Ross is from The Wages Of Sin, a feature length episode of Taggart that you can see on ITV1 this Thursday. Robbie goes undercover as a taxi driver to try and infiltrate a gang of known criminals who are dealing in stolen diamonds. But he has had a run in with one of the villains in the past and his cover gets blown.
"They soon suss him out because a member of the gang recognises him from a previous misdemeanour" explains John Michie, 48, who plays Robbie.
"They don't want the trouble that would come with killing a copper, though. They know that he's a ladies man, so they try and humiliate him by ripping his clothes off and chucking him in a turkey shed!"
Filming the bizarre scene was an understandably daunting experience for John. Not only did the actor have to stand around naked with his hands tied together, he also had to cope with the unenviable task of being trapped in a pen full of live turkeys.
"Turkeys can actually be very aggressive. God knows what they could have pecked off! He laughs. "There were a couple that flew at me, but thankfully for me it was more flapping wings than snapping beaks."
Happy 1st Birthday john-michie.co.uk (31.12.04)
This time last year saw the launch of John's website. It had been in existence on my computer long before this, but at the end of December 2003 it was finally posted onto the worldwide web. I had no idea how it would be received or even if John would approve of it's existence. I needn't have worried on either count. Within days I was getting emails from fellow John Michie fans who were pleased to finally have somewhere they could find out more about their favourite star - not to mention stare longingly at the pictures!! Then, I arrived home from work one day to find a parcel on the door mat post marked Glasgow. It was from John, he liked the site and had sent me two show reels of his previous work. Since then he has been nothing but supportive - providing photos and answering your questions. In September 2004 I was lucky enough to meet him on the set of Taggart and he was exactly who I thought he would be. Thank you John. So here's to the next year!
My thanks go to all of you out there who have contributed to the site - I couldn't do it without you. Plus I must just thank Carly, Linda, SMG, Tom Waller and Carter Ferguson for their help and support.
To celebrate our first Birthday I have posted some new pictures of Robbie Ross. Click Here and Enjoy!
Spirit Of Scotland Awards (23.12.04)
This is old news, but better late than never in this instance!! Thanks to 'Taggart' fan Barry Clements I have been made aware that John presented an award at this years Glenfiddich Spirit Of Scotland Award ceremony. The ceremony took place in November 04 and John presented the 'art' award. Barry kindly sent me a copy of the ceremony on video and I have managed to capture the pictures below. Sorry I didn't warn you all in advance of this event, but it snuck through my net un noticed!!!!
Wages Of Sin (20.12.04)
You remember this picture? Posted on here in July? Well us here in the UK can finally look forward to seeing Robbie Ross naked as Wages Of Sin is due to be shown on 13th January 2005.
John will also feature in The Sun TV Guide on 8th January. I suggest you all make sure you buy a copy.
Saints and Sinners - New Taggart - December 2004 (29.11.04)
UPDATED 06.12.04 Saints and Sinners is now due to be televised on 30th December 2004.
Good news, a new Taggart story is due to be televised in the UK on Saturday 18th December 2004. Now as we know by now, these dates seem to be open to constant change so check back here or on the Taggart site to keep up to date.
John Helping To Raise Money For The Scottish Youth Theatre (22.11.04)
John, along with fellow Taggart cast members attended a charity event last week in aid of The Scottish Youth Theatre. Seemingly it was a question and answer session with the stars with some pretty dodgy story telling thrown in for good measure!! The evening was reviewed in The Herald, but one particular paragraph is most pertinent to John Michie fans:
actor John Michie, the show's heart-throb, said that shortly after joining
the cop series he was approached in the street by a Glasgow punter who
accused him, because of his anglified accent, of being English.
"No, I'm from Scotland," argued John.
But his antagonist continued to claim that couldn't be right, and that he was English.
"I was born in Edinburgh," pleaded John.
Unsatisfied his tormentor barked: "That's f****** worse," and walked on.' (Off The Cuff - The Herald, 22.11.04)

Exclusive Photos Of John On His Birthday (25.10.04)
Thanks to Robert (Taggart website), SMG organised for some photos of John on his Birthday to be taken. They were as much as a surprise for me as they will be for you when you view them. The photos were taken whilst John was opening his parcel containing goodies from his fans. Click HERE to view the pictures!!
Birthday Boy!! (21.10.04)
Monday 25th October is John's Birthday. If anymore of you out there would like to send him a message please email me with it and I will pass it on.
Has anyone heard the trailer for this Sunday's 'Panorama' programme on BBC1? It features a mother and her son who has been attacked with a knife. The trailer concludes with a voice giving information about the show and when it is to be televised - the voice is John's (I think). I say I think because although I'm 100% sure that it is I've been trying to get it officially confirmed. Sadly no luck as yet. If anyone else hears it let me know!!
Great North Run 2004 Update (02.10.04)
The results of last weeks Great North Run are now available. These are the results for John:
Race No. 49710 Race Time: 2hrs 21 mins Race Position: 18679 (not bad at all when you consider that nearly 50,000 runners took part!!)

Did anyone spot him on the TV during coverage of the run? No? Well you should've done - he was just behind Charlie Dimmock whilst she was being interviewed by the BBC!!!

Taggart Set Visit. (16.09.04)
You know how easy it is to think you know someone just because they're on the television? Well I had to put that to the test last week when I met John for the first time whilst he was filming a new Taggart in Glasgow. Having known I was going to meet him since May it had been a long wait - but definitely worth it.......you couldn't wish to meet a nicer, more friendly and warm person, and girls, he's much better looking in real life!! I took quite a few photos which I hope to include on the site. I'm just waiting to get them cleared by the Taggart producer.
However whilst I was there John introduced me to Al (Director of Photography on Taggart) who had worked with him on the short film 'The Race'. I was desperate to get a picture of John as Father Pat for the site and here it is!! Click HERE
"I've Run Out Darling......" (01.08.04)
Last night (31.07.04) the infamous out take from Monk Dawson was shown on It'll Be Alright On The Night 11. It features John as Father John carrying out Holy Communion. Congregation members are walking up to him and to each Father John says; "the body of Christ" and gives them a piece of the communion bread. However when he gets to the last lady he runs out...looks up and says "I've run out darling, sorry about that" in his best cockney accent!!! Quite an amusing moment, plus from John you get a cheeky little grin!!!
These out take shows are often repeated so remember to look out for collection number 11.
'The Race' Is On! (22.07.04) Updated
Having tried every where I could possibly think of to obtain information on John's new film 'The Race', today I received some help from the films producer Michael Higson. Thank you Michael for your help with this.
Im sorry to hear that The Edinburgh Film Festival
had no information about The Race so I shall do my best to address that
for you now. As you know The Race was made as part of the New Found Land
series and is a 24 minute television film made for Scottish Screen and SMG
(Scottish Television and Grampian Television). The film will be shown at
this years Edinburgh Film Festival before being shown on Scottish and
Grampian TV in the autumn, the actual transmission date is to be
Duncan is racing to be Alasdair's best man: against George, against tradition, against time and against his better judgement. The Race is a whimsical comedy from the Isle of Barra. With a helping hand from a surprising place, Duncan strives to ensure that the right man is the best man. Running in the footsteps of its illustrious forebear, 'Whisky Galore', The Race both exploits the natural, rugged beauty of the Outer Hebridean landscape, whilst simultaneously evoking the playful Island interpretation of a flexible but justifiable morality. The Race is the directorial debut of Donald (Bovy) Mackinnon, who hails from Barra.
John plays the part of Barras parish priest, Father Pat, who guides his flock with an authoritative, if slightly irreverent manner. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time and with the right line were rarely left in any doubt as to whos in charge.
Robbie Ross Surrounded By Birds!! (04.07.04)
Unfortunately these birds were of the feathered variety, turkeys in fact!! Robbie's never been that lucky in love!! I am referring too an episode of Taggart called "The Wages Of Sin" which has been shown in Australia already, but here in the UK we have to wait until September for it to be televised. Thanks to Robyn, a fellow Taggart fan in Oz, I received a copy of the episode in advance. I'm not going to go into details about the episode, but I thought this picture might just whet your appetites for more!!
As soon as I know when this episode will be shown I will of course let you know!
Your Chance to Own a 'Robbie Ross Postcard'!!!!!!! (28.05.04)
Thanks to SMG (Scottish Media Group) I can now offer all you Robbie Ross fans a postcard of the man himself!!
The reverse reads "TAGGART" John Michie plays DI Robbie Ross
If you would like one please email me your address to firstname.lastname@example.org
New Role For John in the Outer Hebrides (22.05.04)
John has just completed filming a short film in the Outer Hebrides. The film is called "The Race" and was shot on the Isle of Barra. John plays "a priest with the devils beard"
It will be shown at the Edinburgh Film Festival (18th-29th August) and then on Scottish TV under the Newfoundland series.
Tonight's The Night!! (30.04.04)
UPDATED - 30th April. 23.02 hrs
What a fantastic episodes!! Especially for Robbie fans, he was such a naughty boy, vintage Robbie Ross and great fun!! Now we know why he is smirking in the picture below - he had plenty to be happy about!
I would love to know what fellow Robbie fans thought of tonight's episode so please email me.
Yes, it's finally 30th April and the long awaited new Taggart episode 'Compensation' will be shown tonight at 9pm on ITV1!!
The episode is set on a farm outside of the teams usual stamping ground of Glasgow. How will they get on? It appears that we learn much about Burkes's character whilst Robbie gets lucky with the local ladies......nothing new there then!!
Let me know what you think of Robbie's performance!!
Picture from Scottish TV.
"Taggart Team Honoured To Get Top Glasgow Award" (21.04.04)
So reads the headline in the Evening Times. Last night the cast and crew of Taggart were given an award in recognition of bringing Glasgow to an international audience. Blythe Duffs collected the award watched by John, Colin McCredie and Alex Norton. Read the article at: http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/hi/news/5025786.html
There is a fantastic picture of the cast which accompanies the article and I know I'm bias but it is an excellent photo of John. It suits him to smile!!
Gorgeous Picture!! (20.04.04)
Well, it's official. Yes we finally have a new Taggart coming to our screens and as we thought it will be aired on Friday 30th April at 21.00 hours. The episode is titled "Compensation" and sees the team leave Glasgow behind them for the countryside. Clearly the country air goes to Robbie's head as he works his way through the local ladies!! Actually come to think of it nothing new there then!!
John and in particular Robbie Ross fans might like to know that there is a rather scrummy picture of Robbie on page 81 of the new edition of the TV Times. Definitely worth purchasing a copy! If anyone else discovers any pictures/features etc on John/Robbie please let me know!
TV's Naughtiest Blunders 14 (07.04.04)
Last nights showing of TV's Naughtiest Blunders 14 on ITV contained two Taggart out takes!! Fortunately neither showed John making a fool of himself, but he did have a good chuckle at Alex Norton's expense!! The scene was of Robbie, Burke and Stuart in a car. Robbie was driving, Burke in the passenger seat and Stuart sitting in the back. Basically Burke tried to get out of the car but the door wouldn't open. I can't repeat what he said!! The second clip showed Stuart in what looked like a builders yard, he closes the door, says 'Sir' and there is a loud noise sounding suspiciously like someone is breaking wind!! Er...cut!!
Do you know I have never seen a 'John blunder', maybe he doesn't make them then!! The Naughtiest Blunders 15 is being shown next Tuesday at 10pm on ITV. Tune in because you just never know....
Pastel Pictures Auctioned For Charity (03.04.04)
Monet they're not, but if you would like to own a genuine John Michie masterpiece now is your chance. A charity called Spirit Aid which helps the impoverished in Afghanistan are auctioning a one off pastel drawing by John on Ebay. I'm not sure what it's meant to be, I think he went for the modernist approach!! The bidding starts at £30.00 and I confess I'm rather sold on the idea of owning it myself and have had a little bid!!
Taggart fans may also like to know that there are drawings by both Blythe Duff and Colin McCredie up for auction. Blythe has drawn a thistle and Colin the armadillo in Glasgow.
Any of you who like to search the internet for info about John need to be aware of a problem with one of the links that Google provides on page 2. The description includes reference to 'actor John Michie as a naval...gunfire' etc. I'm not going to post the site address because ultimately that simply gives the site another link and a further foot hold in the search engines but the web address includes the name mckenna. DO NOT click on it, it either is or has a pornographic site piggy backing it and the options it presents are not pleasant. Be warned! One downside to the world wide web.
UPDATE: I have located another. Same advice applies as above. The domain name contains the word 'locasbosbeachcondo' NB. Both sites leave open windows on your system which only go when system is re-booted.
DVD Delivery (28.02.04)
For those of you who ordered their new Taggart DVDs through Clear Vision, today should've been a good day!! Although the given release date was 8th March, they have been despatched and arrived at their destinations today!!

I have emailed the site to seek permission to use the photos on this site but in the meantime visit www.fightdirector.com and click on 'diary' then scroll down to entry for January 20th 2004.

Time to set the video I think!!
Monk Dawson Picture Gallery (02.02.04)
There is now a gallery with pictures of John in the fantastic film Monk Dawson. Tom Waller from De Warrenne Pictures sent them to me today. For those of you used to seeing John as Robbie Ross take a look, you might be a little surprised!! There is a link to the gallery on the 'Films' page included in the Monk Dawson review but if you can't wait that long, click HERE
Thank You John, You Are A Star!! (24.01.04)
Waiting for me when I got in from work today was a package from John!! He has sent me two 'showreels'. These feature some of his previous work and I'm guessing would be shown to prospective employers when casting. They are both fantastic and there is some great footage which I can hopefully use to fill in a few of the blanks on the television page! John also said he enjoys the site and I just hope he continues to do so. :0)
The Sun. 24th January 2004. "Taggart Star Alex In Ammo Alert"
When staff at Glasgow airport thought they had found bullets in a bin, they asked non other than Alex Norton, DCI Burke to help! Eventually the real police were called and the area was evacuated! Why am I telling you all this? Well: "Alex was flying to Heathrow with fellow Taggart stars John Michie and Lesley Harcourt, who had been filming in Glasgow. Their plane left and hour late" A policemen later confirmed that they were in fact spent cartridges in the bin.
Monk Dawson Official Pictures (21.01.04)

They also told me that they still have copies of the film's soundtrack available costing £10 per copy including post and packing. If anyone is interested please let me know and I can give you the full details.

Priced at £34.99, they are advertised as having £5 off. I have contacted Clear Vision to establish whether they will be running a similar scheme. Thank you Claire for the information!
"There's Been A Murder". Grampian TV. 02.01.04
What better way is there to celebrate 20 years of Taggart than by taking it's viewers behind the scenes of the show? This hour long documentary did just that. Both cast and crew spoke of the shows early years with Mark McManus as Jim Taggart and how Mark wanted the show to continue after his death. The programme was in literal terms the story of Taggart up to the current time and there were some great shots of the team shooting the episode "Atonement".
There was a short interview with John during the show and this was how he described Robbie:
" He's not a bent cop, but he's a cop who bends the rules....frequently, don't know how he gets away with it...mixture of charm and.....something else"
Unfortunately if like me you don't live in Scotland you wont have seen this programme advertised. When I contacted Scottish TV about the show I was informed that the TV companies in England were not interested in showing the programme! They must be mad is all I can say!! My thanks go to Kathleen who kindly taped the show and sent it to me. Jackie
GMTV 19th November 2003
This is really old news now I know but in case anyone didn't see it, John was a guest on GMTV along with Alex Norton (DCI Burke) on 19th November 2003. John looked very relaxed in his denim jacket and jeans, although I do think he might have been fighting off a cold! They were asked about how Taggart has progressed from the start Mark McManus gave it 20 years ago and Eamon Holmes even wanted to know if the cast had competitions to see who could say "murrderr" the most!! It was a very nice interview but could've been longer in my opinion!!
For those of you who missed the show, copies of the interview on VHS are available from GMTV. You can email them at email@example.com. All they need to know is what piece you are looking for. Be warned however that they charge £25.00 for the service.
